A visit to Colonial Williamsburg immerses us in 18th century life, with actors dressed up as historical persons to enrich the experience. I wonder whether many Christians are living like the actors at Colonial Williamsburg rather than actual Christians. It seems that many have little knowledge of or interest in the contemplative life or active apostolic work, but are seeking to imitate a character they imagine.
