How Would Augustine Respond to One Who Denies God’s Existence?

In his work “On Free Choice of the Will”, St. Augustine proposes the question of how a man who denies the existence of God might be persuaded. He gives the following argument (in the person of Evodius):

This is a great Augustinian answer. He wrote an entire treatise “on the “On the Profit of Believing” and seems to like making this argument against unbelief from the common action of believing in everyday life.
