In God Alone

God created each of us for Himself, and the desires of our soul, which we do not understand fully, can only be satisfied in Him. We don’t understand this satisfaction because we have never experienced it. Therefore, we do not think to seek it.

Every pleasure in this life is a sign of that true pleasure for which we were created.

If we would reflect on our pleasures, with Reason, we would first be thankful for the pleasures and our ability to sense them. We would quickly see the vanity of these pleasures, though, because they are short-lived and expensive. Physical pleasure is not sustainable.

When we do not make this proper use of physical pleasures, they no longer serve as signs but become counterfeit ends in our lives, which is sin.
