Just a Fuse…

On the farm, Spring has arrived and it’s time to get to work.  Unfortunately the tractor wouldn’t start after a day of prep work.

My son Sam and I–Sam’s the third mechanically gifted son I’ve had–tore the tractor up and couldn’t find the problem. Tractor would turn over but wouldn’t run.

Plenty of power, fresh tank of fuel, starter working, fuel pump working…just won’t fire up. Doesn’t it always seem to happen at the worst times?

Just as we were about to wrap-up, Sam asked: Check the fuse by the starter?

Dang it.

That was it: a $4 fuse.

Sam’s wrapping up his last year of studies at home. He’s my last in-house mechanic, so I’m going to have to get my act together. He’s planning to go to Basic Training, join the Army Reserves and go to college like his older siblings have done, so he’ll be around for a few more years.

Fortunately, we’re ready to roll, so expect some farm posts.

Sam (18) is in the Army green shirt, facing the camera. He’ll be soldier #4 for us.
