Rutgers Holding the Line

Growing up in New Jersey, I enjoyed a patriotic, working-class education. My school days started with the “Pledge of Allegiance”, we sang patriotic songs. I went to George Washington Elementary School and Thomas Jefferson Middle School. The “Star-Spangled Banner” played or was sung before every sporting event. We had patriotic parades. If anyone would have raised this anti-American nonsense, they would have been stopped real quick.

I’m proud to see the students at Rutgers, my alma mater, putting this Palestine protest activity down on their own. That’s how I remember New Jersey culture.
