In the CLAA, we offer enrollment for $25 per month. Our Premium enrollment plan costs $100 per month. This is a private business model that is completely sustainable. A parent can provide a child with premium services in the CLAA for $1000 per year. Everything’s included.
The state of Arizona, however, as a leader in the move to provide state funding to K-12 families, is providing parents with updat $7,000 for “homeschool expenses”. Parents in Arizona contact me and learn that our premium enrollment only costs $1,000 and are excited because they have $6,000 left to spend. That’s how they look at the money.
Now, homeschool programs are not going to allow this to continue. Knowing that parents have this kind of money available, they are going to raise their tuition to something closer to $7,000. The state funding will determine what the costs of homeschool programs are.
Private business requires prudence, expertise and efficiency. Competition challenges businesses to constantly work to improve. This is what is great about the free market, and technology is making more and more available for less and less. Unfortunately, Americans are voting to inject government funding into these markets which destroys the competitive nature of the market. Politicians, realizing that Americans will vote for these programs are promising them for votes.
This is exactly how colleges and universities were destroyed.
